WIND TURBINE owners left without warranties or support after turbine manufacturer Endurance went out of business are being offered repair and upgrade options by renewables firm Natural Generation Ltd.

When Endurance closed its doors in 2016, turbine owners throughout the UK who had invested in its range of 55 to 85kW machines were left exposed to any problems arising in their machines.

According to Natural Generation, the biggest of these issues were cracks appearing in the bed frames – the main structural component inside the turbine nacelle – broken main shafts and cracks in the blade roots. As a result, some machines failed and others were shut down on safety grounds.

“Major component failures and shut downs used to mean machines lying idle for long periods of time” said NG's managing director Ivor Thomson. “We’ve worked hard to bring together a supply chain and stockholding system that lets us minimise the time it takes to get a turbine back earning money."

Mr Thomson said that a full parts upgrade would take about a week, and there was a range of maintenance contracts available thereafter, all of which include remote monitoring as standard.
