IT HAS emerged that Rowallan Activity Centre, based in Ayrshire, has now been sold.

The equestrian centre built by Lord Johnnie Rowallan has been sold to Robert Morris for an undisclosed sum.

A statement on Rowallan's Facebook page on Thursday afternoon said: "Sadly at 8am this morning Robert Morris purchased Rowallan Activity Centre.

"NO further shows will be ran by ourselves at this site.

"This is a HUGE shock to us. This take over has been done without our knowledge by the administrator.

"We like to thank all the visitors, competitors and all supporters of Rowallan over the years.

"AS PREVIOUSLY STATED. NO SHOWS WILL NOW BE RUN FROM NOW BY OURSELVES."

The equestrian centre was on the market in the spring with a price tag of £1.25m.

All events this weekend have been cancelled, with the BSPS Scotland Finale Show on September 21 set to be the first event under the new owners.
