It’s a strange sensation, but I feel like I could be on holiday somewhere exotic. I’m in the grounds of Ingliston Country Club in Bishopton, in Renfrewshire. The immaculate grounds, the attention to detail, the relaxed atmosphere, the bars, restaurants, hotel, equestrian centre and a little out of place in my holiday dream, a couple of alpacas.

I’m here to see the wedding facilities, and there is plenty to see. Ingliston is scooping award after award for their wedding capabilities, and it is easy to see why.

I’m being shown round and we’ve a lot to get through. There are two permanent venues used for weddings and events, those are the Salerno suite, a stunning art deco designed space that captures a bygone era. Shimmering crystal and chrome, a sweeping staircase and stained glass, some of which has been salvaged from London’s Savoy Hotel. A two-tier suite with a champagne terrace, the suite can seat up to 150 guests for dinner and a further 50 in the evening.

The other is the Connemara suite which offers a more contemporary space. Designed by award winning designers with mood lighting, a champagne bar and al fresco terrace area, this suite can cater for 160 dinner guests and a further 50 in the evening.

However, should you be thinking on a much larger scale, then have a look at the epic indoor marquee. It’s huge… there are no other words. Accommodating up to 500 guests for a sit-down meal, with a state of the art dance floor this is a space to be wowed by when dressed for a wedding. All of these venues are within the resort, which is well laid out, with beautiful gardens, looked after by a dedicated team, and with accommodation on the grounds, your guests will be well catered for.

The bride and groom can have the option of a junior suite, designed with comfort and space in mind, as well as the fun of a hot tub and sauna terrace. There are 30 rooms in the hotel, all with the expected mod cons of such a modern hotel.

If you and your guests would like a little more independence, the resort has 13 luxury lodges on site, five of which have private hot tubs, saunas and al fresco dining areas. There are four three-bedroom lodges, eight two-bedroom lodges, and a honeymoon two-bedroom lodge, all individually designed.

Now, the alpacas… there are two here that can come out to join in the wedding celebrations, or if you are drawn to Ingliston with a love for the equestrian side of things, you can have wee Bob, an adorable Shetland pony which will pose for photos all day.

Ingliston has many wedding packages on offer, with a huge range of dining options to choose from.

The wedding and events team are ready to deal with all enquiries, and the team pride themselves on being as flexible as possible for client’s requests. The suites can be prepared for smaller weddings with ease, and there isn’t much that they haven’t had to deal with before.

The location is ideal, as Ingliston is only 10 minutes by car from Glasgow airport, and just a half hour’s drive from Glasgow city centre.
