If you like your meat and want to support Scottish suppliers, then book a table with Crerar Hotels which has formed a new partnership with an award-winning Scottish family butcher to “bring top-quality beef to the menu”.

The Scottish hotels group has joined forces with East Lothian-based John Gilmour Butchers, a third-generation family business which won two gold medals at the World Steak Challenge 2021 awards, to supply its four and five-star properties with Scotch beef.

In line with Crerar Hotels’ ethos of sourcing and serving the finest seasonal Scottish produce, John Gilmour Butchers sources prime cattle from Crerar’s Home Farm and its pedigree herd of slow-growing, grass-fed Lamermuir Luings.

The succulent beef will be enjoyed by diners across each of the hotel group’s restaurants, from Deeside to Glencoe – including the recently refurbished Oran na Mara restaurant at Isle of Mull Hotel & Spa, which recently received its first AA Rosette.

John Gilmour Butchers, a third-generation family business, uses the skills and experience built up over almost 70 years of trading to produce the very best Scotch beef.

Chris Wayne-Wills, CEO of Crerar Hotels, said: “We are immensely proud to partner with John Gilmour Butchers. We aim to always show our guests the very best of what Scotland has to offer, so working with this family-run butcher to bring locally sourced Scotch beef to the table at each of our hotels and inns was a natural progression.”

Simon Gilmour, co-owner of John Gilmour Butchers, said: “This new partnership will allow us to continue to support local Scottish farmers and their surrounding rural communities, some of whom we have been working with for over 40 years.”

John Gilmour Butchers’ Scotch beef will feature on menus at Loch Fyne Hotel & Spa, Thainstone House, Oban Bay Hotel, Isle of Mull Hotel & Spa, Golf View Hotel & Spa, The Glencoe Inn, and Deeside Inn.
