Aireburn Augustus Honey rose above a more cautious trade at a dairy sale at Skipton Auction Mart, selling for the top price of £3300 after being tapped champion by judge Caroline Yarrow.

Champion at the pre-sale show, this three weeks calved Drouner August daughter from Brian and Judith Moorhouse’s herd at Bell Busk, sold giving 31kg, to the judge, Caroline Yarrow, Cononley. The heifer is backed by 12 generations of VG and Ex-classified dams.

Two heifers then shared a £2600 price tag, the first being the reserve champion, from Mark Smith, Winterburn, three weeks fresh and producing 29kg.

Sired by Atlantis and out of a 12,499kg dam, she sold to Shaun Sowray, Bishop Thornton.

The other was a fresh heifer from Robert Crisp, Calton. Sired by Applejax, she went home with Alan and Emily Middleton, Beamsley Bank.

With forage scarcity weighing on confidence, the eight in-milk heifers averaged £2176
