A champion heifer from the Robinson family, Carnforth, stole the show at Gisburn Auction Marts’ weekly dairy sale, selling to £3420.
The Progenesis Photobooth-sired, Audbrook heifer is bred from the Grace family.
Five heifers from the Drinkall Brothers’ Pennine herd, Over Wyresdale, reached £2950 for a Rubicon daughter out of the Poppy family and a 17,136kg dam.
Jimmy Hull’s Fortland herd, Winmarleigh, Preston, sold the best of its six at £2850, this one out of an OCD Lemieux-sired dam from the Lilac family.
Another from Fortland, a Stantons Adorable from the Buddleia family, made £2720.
Matching that was M and J Bristol, Newton in Bowland, with Claremont Chase Spottie, by the Drouner K&L sire and out of a Solarpower dam.
Non-pedigree heifers topped at £2900 for RH Close, Starbotton’s first prize winner, giving 34 litres.
The Walmsley family, Pilling, Preston, sold a 34-litre heifer at £2750, with one of four from HJ and JL Blackwell, Gargrave, close behind at £2700.
Cows peaked at £2750 for Borrins Adino Squirrel, a 38-litre pedigree second calver from H and M Dugdale and Son, Stackhouse, Settle. Close behind at £2700 was a pedigree Avenham second calver giving 44 litres from J and AH Rogerson, Singleton, Preston.
