Launched only three years ago, the 100th Terra Trac version of the Claas Jaguar forage harvester to be produced – destined for the US – recently rolled off the production line at Harsewinkel.

While the unique track system, which partly lifts one end of the tracks to avoid scuffing when turning, is ideally suited to help avoid ruts and soil compaction when harvesting in wet conditions, especially when harvesting maize late in the year in northern Europe, the largest market for the Jaguar TT has been in the US.

Over there it proved ideal for harvesting maize, partly because it reduced the risk of mud contaminating the silage, but also due to the smooth ride the unit provides when crossing flood irrigation ridges or ruts where the crops have been irrigated using centre pivots. Also the 925hp max output from the Jaguar 990TT ensures it has plenty of power to cope with high yielding maize forage crops.
