Kuhn Farm Machinery has extended its Primor straw bedding and feeding range with the launch of the Primor GII 110.1 Polydrive, designed for farmers working in low-clearance buildings who still require high-capacity machines.

The new model boasts an 11m3, 5.5m-long bale bed, capable of carrying two 2.7m square bales with the tailgate closed, or up to four 2m round bales when the tailgate is lowered. Its compact transport height of 2.6m rises to just 2.9m during spreading, allowing for full coverage in restricted-height sheds.

Rhodri Jenkins, Kuhn, highlighted the machine’s appeal for livestock farmers: “Restricted height sheds are still essential infrastructure for many small and medium sized livestock units, and machines that can easily move through these buildings, whilst improving carrying and output capacity, are essential to users. The new Primor offers a high area covered per load in low buildings.”

The Primor GII 110.1 features Kuhn’s Polydrive hydraulically controlled feed rotor system, combining the mechanical power of the transmission with the flexibility of hydraulic operation. The large-diameter feed rotor reduces the risk of fibres wrapping, while a hydraulic tine bank adjusts rotor power depending on the fodder.

A two-speed gearbox drives the turbine rotation (310–620rpm), and a patented Unroll System, with internal hydraulic clamps, secures waiting round bales during straw-blowing. The turbine base benefits from K-Nox treatment for enhanced resistance to silage acids and abrasion, while redesigned tailgate kinematics improve bale loading.

The new model joins Kuhn’s broader Primor range, which spans mounted, semi-mounted, and trailed machines. Capacities range from 2m3 on the mounted Primor 2060 M up to 15m3 on the trailed Primor 15070 M, giving farmers a wide choice depending on herd size and shed design.
