CRAWFORD Wilson of Largs Farm, Twynholm, near Kirkcudbright is southwest Scotland's top silage maker, having won the 2016 annual silage competition organised by the South West Scotland Grassland Society, judged this year by Robert Neill.
Messrs J and E Wilson, who run 200 Holsteins, won the Stewartry section and the Wholecrop prize before going on to the lift the Greensward Cup for the overall championship
Mr Wilson said: “We’ve entered over the last three years and won prizes but this is the first time we’ve won the overall championship and we’re delighted. Last year was a good year for silage and we are delighted with the quality."
