JOHN FYALL of Sittyton, Newmachar, has been elected as the new chairman of the National Sheep Association Scotland.
As The Scottish Farmer went to press this week, the vote at the association's AGM, held at Airth Castle, placed Mr Fyall ahead of the other candidate, John Hamilton.
As well as his farming enterprise, Mr Fyall works as an agricultural consultant, and has previously been a vocal critic of the Scottish Government's approach to CAP reform and its treatment of new entrants excluded from the historical allocation of support cash.
His newly elected vice president is Cathy Peebles, of Fife, while Maimie Paterson remains as branch treasurer.
