AYRSHIRE members of NFU Scotland met with local politicians on Monday, at Andrew Glover's Hall of Barnweil Farm, Craigie.
Dr Philippa Whitford MP, Alan Brown MP and Bill Grant MP all attended, with a variety of issues on the agenda – including the proposed energy from waste plant at Tarbolton, and of course Brexit.
Cereal producers in the area voiced concern about European greening regulations which resulted in having to grow unsuitable crops to meet the three-crop rule and the problem of rampant weeds on Ecological Focus Areas. They stressed to the MPs that environmental policies post-Brexit should not have a detrimental effect.
