ROUTINE SCREENING has confirmed Bovine TB in the Campbeltown area of Argyll.

Movement restrictions are in place whilst further testing is undertaken, and the source of the infection is under investigation.

The Scottish Farmer also understands that a nursery sheepdog trial due to be held on a farm in the area has been cancelled, due to the case.

A local farmer, who asked not to be named said: "I can sympathise with the farm involved. We failed a TB test amongst our young stirks and were closed down from December 2016 through to August last year before getting the all clear.

"The animals all failed the skin test of the procedure, and we were told it might be TB but the disease was never confirmed.

"An interesting factor is that the skin test is avian related, and where we were feeding the animals gulls and crows also pecked the feed. Whether there was a connection we will never know and were never given any details," he added.
