INCREASED ENTRIES for the poultry section at the Malvern Autumn Show have necessitated a larger marquee to accommodate the wide variety of birds forward.

There are a record-breaking 943 exhibits registered for the poultry section, including 382 waterfowl, 580 chickens and close to 200 egg entries.

There is a 'big' theme about this year's show, from giant vegetables and titanic tortoises, to what will be one of the biggest food bank donations ever collected as part of a traditional harvest festival at the two-day event, being held at the Three Counties Showground on September 28 and 29.

The Autumn Show is the last food, horticulture and nostalgia show of the season, drawing around 65,000 visitors and hosting a range of interactive features including cooking demonstrations with celebrity chefs, the CANNA UK National Giant Vegetables Championship, Grow to Show classes, the last major RHS Flower Show of the season and exhibitions of vintage memorabilia, activities and vehicles.

Three Counties head of shows Di Walton commented: “There are so many poultry entries we have increased the size of the marquee to accommodate them all, which is remarkable.

“The poultry section is always popular and some of the birds, in particular the Sebrights are stunning to look at. One thing’s for sure, is this is going to be a must-see at this year’s show.”
