A SUCCESSFUL 72 hours for Kintyre's dairy farmers saw them exceed their target of £50,000 in their bid to buy the Campbeltown Creamery from dairy co-op First Milk.

They have now stretched their campaign to a target of £80,000 to 'further help us fund this process as well as try and accommodate all these who wish to donate and pass on their messages and stories about what Mull of Kintyre cheese means to them', they announced on their crowdfunding page. Over 914 individuals and businesses have contributed so far and one supporter shared the following message: "You are so important to our community and we fully support you in this endeavour. Tim's first job when he moved to this area was at the creamery as an assistant quality manager and then setting up the computers in the office. He has many ties to a lot of the staff and of course, we are all hooked on the cheese and buy it every week."

As the SF went to press at the end of last week, their new target had reached over £70,000. That total has now grown over the weekend and Kintyre dairy farmers have yet again smashed their target with over £83,000 in funding.

One Kintyre dairy farmer uploaded a message over the weekend thanking people for their support and encouraging them to share their message: "Please share our story and help to continue dairy farming in this beautiful part of the world and help our creamery keep going for all the generations still to come."
