ROBERT AND Claire Fleming hope to be raising important funds for the Still Born and Neonatal Death (SANDS) charity this coming Tuesday, November 26, at 12.30pm at Whitefordhill, Ayr.

Craig Wilson, of Ayr has agreed to help auction one of the Fleming’s prime heifers, with the full proceeds going to the charity, which provides bereavement care to anyone affected by the death of a baby, for as long as they need it.

Seven years ago Robert and Claire sadly lost their daughter Abby and ever since have been raising funds and awareness of still born and neonatal deaths.

They are passionate about lifting the taboo of talking about matters like baby loss from society and want to make it a conversation that anyone that needs to can have without fear of making anyone uncomfortable.

Claire wrote a blog following Abby’s death and offered advice to any friends or family of someone who has experienced a stillbirth: “Talk about their baby. Even years down the line. Say their name,” she advised.

“It won’t upset them because they are already thinking about them, it’s just a reminder that you are too.”
