A TEENAGE boy has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a Shetland pony in Broxburn, police in West Lothian have confirmed.
The pony, a family pet called Pepper, was found dead in a field behind Roman Camp Cottages, Broxburn, around 11am yesterday (Monday, June 8).
The animal had suffered a number of stab wounds and was said to still be bleeding when a neighbour discovered him.
In an initial statement, the Police had suggested that the incident took place sometime between Sunday evening at 9pm and the grim discovery the following morning.
The boy is due to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court today (Tuesday, June 9) and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
