EQUESTRIAN EVENTING star Pippa Funnell MBE has teamed up with World Horse Welfare to help launch a new series of webinars.

The three-time Olympic medallist is joining the equestrian charity for the first of their free-to-watch 'Welfare Wednesday webinars', launching on Wednesday, June 17, from 7pm until around 8pm BST.

The first webinar 'Maintaining your horse’s fitness over summer 2020' will be hosted by the charity’s chief executive Roly Owers, and Ms Funnell will be speaking alongside Adam Cummins, centre manager at World Horse Welfare’s Lancashire-based Penny Farm Rescue and Rehoming Centre.

Ms Owers commented: “We’re excited to announce that we’re launching ‘Welfare Wednesday’ webinars and we are delighted that we have world class eventer and World Horse Welfare Patron Pippa Funnell helping to present the first one. Professional riders, competitive amateurs, happy hackers, dedicated carers of a non-ridden horse or anyone who just loves horses, can all be a part of it – there is something for everyone.”

Whether ridden, driven or a companion, there will be information on everything from bringing a horse back in to work, assessing their fitness levels, dealing with riding on hard ground and creating a fitness plan, as well as how to taper a horse’s workload should you need to reduce their level of work.

Welfare Wednesday webinars will be fortnightly and will run for the foreseeable future, with each session having both a World Horse Welfare speaker as well as expert external support from friends of the charity, sharing their knowledge on key topics and taking questions from the audience towards the end of each session.
