COVID-19 has knocked yet another event out of the agricultural calendar, forcing the postponement of Spring 2021's Borderway UK Dairy Expo.

After assessing the ongoing restrictions, organisers Harrison and Hetherington announced that the annual dairy showcase will not be taking place next March 13 and 14. While insisting that the event was postponed, rather than cancelled, the auctioneers have not yet indicated a potential new date.

Joint managing director of H and H, David Pritchard, said: “The 2021 event would have been our 10th showcase, so naturally it is with deep regret that we have a had to postpone the showcase. These are incredibly challenging times and though we have tried to come up with solutions which would adhere to the current guidelines, there would still be risks even with a scaled-down event.

“Though our 2020 Expo was down in numbers attending on recent years, the day was still a tremendous success and we were thrilled by the enthusiasm of our visitors, globally renowned judges, sponsors, and exhibitors," added Mr Pritchard. "We receive incredible support each year from the dairy industry, and we are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back to Borderway and we are at present hopeful that we may celebrate our 10th UK Dairy Expo later in 2021.”

Attracting around 7000 visitors each year under normal circumstances, the Borderway UK Dairy Expo presents British dairy genetics and innovation to the rest of world, and is an opportunity for those within the industry to share commercial, innovation and educational developments.
