SHEEP FARMERS are going to have to wait til 2022 before they get another Scotsheep event.
Already postponed from its scheduled 2020 date, and rescheduled to May 27 this year, the event has once again been kicked into the future when, hopefully, the current Covid-19 restrictions on social distancing and mass gatherings will be a thing of the past.
The National Sheep Association’s Scottish executive committee, which described the second postponement decision as 'regrettable', has now pinned its hopes Wednesday, June 1, 2022, again by kind permission of hosts Robert and Hazel McNee, of Over Finlarg, Tealing, Dundee.
NSA Scotland chair, Jennifer Craig, said: “We are really disappointed to have to postpone NSA Scotsheep until next June, as plans for the event were well advanced. With no signs of restrictions easing and cases still rising, our main priority is the health and wellbeing of our visitors, exhibitors and those involved in the running of the event.
“It was important to come to a firm decision sooner rather than later to avoid impacting Robert and Hazel’s farming calendar," added Ms Craig.
“Postponing NSA Scotsheep will have a severe impact on NSA Scotland financially – however, through the continued support of our many sponsors and trade exhibitors, we hope to deliver a full-scale event for the sheep industry in Scotland and further afield.”
