A polled Charolais bull forward for the July Borderway Monthly Dairy Day secured the lead price of £3800 for the Balmer family's herd dispersal fromForest Farm, Brough, Kirkby Stephen.

This two-year-old headed home with Messrs Ivison, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.

The Balmer family's Friesian dispersal sold to £1900 twice, with the first being a third lactation Irish Friesian cow giving 38kg with the second being a late lactation cow due in October to the Charolais.

Topping the overall dairy sale at £2450 was the two-year-old heifer, Witherslack Silver Hiedi, from JD Inman, Strickland Hill, Witherslack, Cumbria. She is a daughter of Seagull-Bay Silver, out of Witherslack Unix Hiedi 2, which gave over 12,000kg in her second lactation. Messrs Wither, Middlewich, Cheshire, was the final bidder behind this girl.

Another from the same stable, Witherslack Extreme Vall, sold to Messrs Irving, Canonbie, Dumfriesshire, for £2400. A similarly aged heifer by Silverridge V Extreme, and out of Witherslack Saloon Vall.

Five lots then hit the £2350 price tag, firstly for Nydie Barabo Laureen from R and A Wilson, Clackmae, Earlston, Berwickshire. This May 2019 born heifer is by the Barabo sire, out of Nydie N Jacey Laureen 2, and headed home with Messrs Green and Son, Lach Dennis, Northwich.

Three heifers from Messrs Wilson's Wreaywood herd from Carlisle, realised £2350 with the first being Wreaywood Jow Donna Red, which was knocked down to Messrs Beard, Roweltown, Carlisle, Cumbria. She is by Wraeywood Joe Red daughter, out of Wraeywood Ricardo Donna.

Messrs Dixon, Aspatria, Wigton, Cumbria, purchased the next two at £2350 from the same home. This included the March 2018 born, Wreaywood Main Time Debby, giving 60kg being and sired by Oconnors Vogue Main Time. And, the similarly aged heifer, Wreaywood Abro Lottie 21, by Sandy-Valley Abro.

Last to realise £2350 was the best from Balcurvie Holsteins, Bankhead of Balcurvie, Windygate, Fife. This October 2018 born, is backed by the Lone-oak-acres Altarabo sire over the dam, Balcurvie Jareb Crystal, and found a new home with Messrs Whitfield Ltd, Silloth, Wigton, Cumbria.

Ayrshire in calf heifers due in the summer and some recently bred Ayrshire heifers topped at £1600 for a heifer consigned by the Bell family from Aigle Gill Farm, near Wigton.

Jersey cross heifers from PH Thompson and Partners, Greengill Head, Penrith, topped at £1150 for a daughter of DJ Zummit bred from a Holstein Friesian dam.
