Nether Abington takes championship at Lanark calf show

Top price was £1760 paid for a 648kg Limousin bullock from A Bothwell, Smithston, whilst top price per kg was 285.7p for a 546kg Charolais from Messrs Warnock, Dreva.

Heifers were topped at £1530 for a 686kg Aberdeen-Angus from A Kirkpatrick, Barr, and to 307.3p for four 423kg Limousins from Messrs Laird, Sunnyside/Carbello.

Judge, Ian Wainwright, Todhall, Cupar, found his champion in a 468kg Limousin bullock from Messrs McGarva, Nether Abington, which he later bought for £1330.

Mr Wainwright also bought his choice of reserve, a 496kg Charolais heifer from A Clark, Blackhill, at £1320.
