AN ONLINE workshop next month promises to help women who keep sheep reduce problems caused by out-of-control dogs near livestock.

Orkney-based livestock worrying expert Stephen Jenkinson has teamed up with the Ladies Who Lamb UK online community to help its 11,000 members cope with problems arising from irresponsible dog ownership – and at the same time raise funds for the Border Collie Trust GB.

Ladies Who Lamb co-founder Debs Roberts, who farms in Perthshire, said: “Irresponsible dog access in the working countryside has been a real cause for distress amongst the members of Ladies Who Lamb UK in the past couple of years.

“We’re delighted to team up with renowned specialist Stephen Jenkinson and offer our Ladies an exclusive webinar that will give them advice and solutions on how to cope with dogs worrying their sheep. The Border Collie Trust GB does a wonderful job in rehoming Border Collies including some working sheep dogs, and we felt it a natural fit that we use this event to raise funds to help them.”

Mr Jenkinson, who has specialised in reducing problems arising from pet dogs in the outdoors for 18 years, said: “Dogs are so often blamed for the horrors of livestock worrying, when in truth this is a people-problem. Raising funds for the Border Collie Trust while helping Ladies Who Lamb will help put things right.”

The 90-minute online event will be held on January 5 at https://www.ladieswholamb.co.uk/
