Stirling-based Andrew Morton, Denny, dominated the Beltex Sheep Society’s sale of females at North West Auctions’ J36 Centre, claiming the championship and the majority of the top prices.

Pre-sale show winner, Mortons Fascination, a gimmer daughter of the 10,000gns Gyffin Dexter, topped the sale at 1200gns. She is out of the Hackney Braveheart- sired ewe, Mortons Della and sold scanned carrying a single to Boothlow F1, to Alasdair Prickett buying for his Farleton House flock, Carnforth.

Mr Morton was back in the money selling two females at 1100gns apiece, and others at 900gns and 800gns. First to make 1100gns was Mortons Foot Loose ET, purchased by JK and BE Townley, Caton Green, Lancaster. Another by Gyffin Dexter, out of Mortons Cute, she stood third at the pre-sale show and sold carrying twins to Ardstewart Fancy Pants.

Also making 1100gns was Mortons Forget Me Not, which headed home with the Taylor family from Ardeonaig, Killin. A daughter of Ravara Avicii, out of the Hackney Braveheart-sired, Mortons Cinnamon, she sold due with twins to Dexter.

Next best from the flock at 900gns was Mortons Frenchie, purchased by J Frankland, Rathmell, Settle. Sired by Matt’s Dare Devil, she also changed hands due with a single to Dexter

The same buyer also went to 800gns for Mortons Fairy Cake, by Ravara Avicii. The service sire was Matt’s Dare Devil.

Outwith the Mortons females, trade peaked at 750gns twice. Stuart Currie's Beautry flock from Rathmell, sold Beautry Edina, a ewe carrying a pair to Artnagullion Elmo, at this price to to Alasdair Prickett.

Matching that price tag was Mark and Ellie Jennings’ Hallcrake Fritilary, from the Selside-based flock. A daughter of Godor Demon, she changed hands due to Frongoy Enrique, to J Frankland.
