The farming community in Scotland have all been paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

Jim Gammie, of Drumforber, Laurencekirk, fondly remembers showing Her Majesty the cattle lines at the Royal Highland Show in 2009.

Mr Gammie was the chief cattle steward on the day and was tasked with escorting Her Majesty round the cattle lines where she met exhibitors, livestock and gave out the top prizes.

He said: “First and foremost, Her Majesty was a lovely, lovely lady. She had an easy charm that put everyone at ease very quickly. I was nervous but that was quickly dispelled, she had a great sense of humour.

"I myself, was gently but firmed chided for breeding Limousin cattle and not a traditional breed, which was all delivered with a twinkle in her eye. She was knowledgeable about agriculture and cattle in particular, and asked pertinent questions throughout.

"Seeing all these tributes pour in for Her Majesty from across the world on all she has done and what she meant to people, we were honoured she took the time to come to the Royal Highland Show.”
