Arable Farm of the Year saw Learielaw Farm, a third-generation family-run arable and livestock business near West Lothian, recognised. The farm manages around 3000 acres of owned and contracted land, growing cereals and finishing 500 cattle annually for local butchers, combining productivity with hands-on farming tradition.
Speaking after the award, the team said: “We came with the expectation that we wouldn’t win, so it is a complete surprise to beat another two strong contenders.” They emphasised that success is built on collaboration and care: “It is a total team effort. We always seek to improve year on year, and have a high attention to detail, with things like soil health, etc.”
As a contracting farm, recognition at the Scottish Agriculture Awards is particularly meaningful. The team noted that the accolade will provide a boost for their business moving forward, highlighting the quality of their work and the dedication of everyone involved.
