Thorabella Farm, based in Dallas, Moray, a family-run enterprise created by Nikki and Ollie Lake claimed Diversified Farm of the Year. The farm combines traditional farming with a range of visitor attractions, including a popular animal walk-around, a farm shop selling home-produced meat and Jersey milk, on-farm ice cream, and holiday cabins.
Reflecting on the win, Nikki said: “We haven’t been doing this diversification for very long, but it has been everything to us, and how we managed to buy and farm - and more importantly keep it!”
She emphasised the passion driving the business: “The passion to the business is critical. We need to get Moray more on the map as it is a beautiful part of the country. Winning this award shows that hard work pays off!”
Thorabella Farm demonstrates how creativity, dedication, and family passion can transform a traditional farm into a thriving, multi-faceted business while showcasing the local area and producing high-quality food. This was echoed by the sponsors while backstage, who extended further congratulations to the pair stating the award couldn’t have gone to a more worthwhile venture.
