Mixed Farm of the Year went to Carriston Farm in Fife, a third-generation, family-run enterprise managed by Matthew Jack and his family. Spanning 1,400 acres, the farm produces combinable crops, vegetables, beef, sheep, and free-range eggs, reflecting its diverse and ambitious operation.
Speaking after the win, Matthew said: “Very happy to win this award, the other contender was very strong. We are certainly mixed to say the least - from beef and sheep to chickens and vegetables. You could say we have eggs in a few baskets.” He added that the recognition serves as both encouragement and motivation: “Ultimately it is great to get a pat on the back and encourages us to keep going stronger.”
Carriston Farm combines its traditional family values with a wide-ranging, integrated approach to farming, balancing productivity and sustainability while maintaining a focus on quality across all its enterprises.
