The most prestigious and final award of the night, the much-coveted Champion of Champions, went to Muirhouse Farm, near Kilmacolm.
Having already secured Sheep Farm of the Year earlier in the evening, it was a remarkable double win for James MacDougall, who runs the third-generation upland livestock enterprise.
“I am absolutely delighted - it is great to be recognised for what we are trying to do,” said James. “We are a very commercial enterprise and try to produce as much lamb as possible without any hard feeding, just off grass. Winning the award lifts your profile and encourages us to keep improving.
“We cannot believe we have Champion of Champions. I think the judges saw what we were trying to do with the diversification project that we have - running farm tours that show the public how their food can be produced in an environmentally focussed way.”
Muirhouse Farm manages 635 acres of owned and rented land, producing purebred North Country Cheviot lambs while balancing productive, grass-based farming with strong environmental stewardship across its protected hill ground.
