TWO sheep left stranded on cliffs in Gwynedd were eventually saved by a rescue team.
Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation (OVMRO) came to the rescue of a ewe and her offspring at Dyffryn Ogwen after they were stuck on a cliff edge.
Teams helped bring the younger one down before also helping the mother to safety.
An OVMRO spokesperson said: "The team was contacted by a local farmer to say he had spotted 2 walkers (believed to be from Baaath) stuck on the cliffs by his farm.
"Without mobile phones they couldn't call for help, and we were unable to use Sarloc/Phonefind so their location was a bit wooly, but at least they had warm clothing for their overnight stay.
"With a low team turnout, the team leader bleated for more help and sheparded 6 team members to the base of the crag.
"Knowing our scared casualties would probably jump away from a descending rescewer, ropes were thrown down and Jed was raised up towards them.
"The youngest casualty did indeed jump some two metres into Jed's arms and it was shear luck they were caught.
"Mum sensibly stayed where she was and was rescued not long after and she lambasted her offspring for jumping.
"Once on safe ground they unbelievably ran away without even a thank ewe."
