Firefighters battled a major blaze at a farm in Kirkintilloch after thick smoke was seen billowing into the sky.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was called to Saddlers Brae Farm, just off Langmuir Road, at around 2.08pm on Saturday, July 18.

Two fire appliances were initially dispatched to the scene, but the response was later increased to six appliances as crews worked to bring the fire under control.

Images shared with the Glasgow Times showed large plumes of smoke rising from the farm, which were visible from across the surrounding area.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed firefighters remained at the scene throughout the afternoon and evening, tackling the blaze.

Thankfully, there have been no reports of any injuries.

Crews eventually left the scene at 11.12pm after extinguishing the fire.

The cause of the blaze has not yet been confirmed.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
