John Deere 8R 540 to make UK debut at Tillage-Live

The Cambridgeshire event will feature working demonstrations and static displays of John Deere’s 8R, 8RX and 9RX ranges.

The 8R 540, launched in the US in February, produces up to 634hp and will be shown in both wheeled 8R 540 and tracked 8RX 540 specifications.

Model year 2027 updates to the standard 8R and 8RX ranges will also be on display, including a new CommandView 4 cab and revised exterior styling.

The line-up will be completed by the 9RX 830, described by John Deere as the world’s largest production tractor by rated horsepower.

Chris Wiltshire, John Deere tactical marketing manager for the UK and Ireland, said:

“Each of the tractors at Tillage-Live represents a major step forward in the high-horsepower segment, and this is the first time UK farmers and contractors will be able to see them all together in one place.

“The line-up brings together the biggest launches we have made in the sector over the past three years, and gives visitors the chance to compare them side by side.”

The 8R 540 and 8RX 540 use John Deere’s 13.6-litre, six-cylinder JD14 engine, also used in the X9 combine and 9 Series tractors.

An eAutoPowr transmission is standard on both models, while the wheeled 8R 540 can reach transport speeds of up to 60kph.

At the other end of the range, the 9RX 830 uses a JD18 engine producing up to 4234Nm of torque, with three hydraulic pumps providing up to 636 litres per minute of hydraulic flow.

The tractor has a 1952-litre fuel tank and can operate at up to 38.1 tonnes ballasted, with ground pressure as low as 0.58kg/cm².

All four models will be displayed at Tillage-Live, with working demonstrations taking place on cultivated ground.

John Deere product specialists will also be available throughout the event.
