Experienced arable and potato specialist Eric Anderson has joined Grounded Agronomy as director and principal agricultural adviser, strengthening the consultancy's support for growers across Tayside, Scotland, and international markets.
Anderson brings more than 40 years of experience spanning agricultural advice, research, supply chains, government and international work to the business.
He will work alongside founder Zach Reilly and agricultural adviser Juaad Al-Saffar, supporting potato and combinable crop growers dealing with increasingly complex technical, commercial and environmental challenges.
Grounded Agronomy was established by Reilly in 2025, with a focus on providing independent, practical advice designed to improve farm performance and resilience.
Anderson is recognised as one of the UK's leading specialists in potato agronomy, soil management and applied crop production.
His experience covers soil functionality, fertiliser planning, water management, irrigation, crop nutrition, disease management, integrated crop production, potato storage and biodiversity.
His career has also included sector leadership and professional recognition, including the Dr James Hardie Memorial Award and Potato Agronomist of the Year.
Describing his move to Grounded Agronomy, Anderson said it represented “a compelling opportunity to join an organisation with the ambition, independence and practical focus growers need”.
He added that the role would allow him to “give growers the considered advice needed to meet the challenges ahead”.

The business has also recently expanded its advisory team with the appointment of Juaad Al-Saffar.
BASIS- and FACTS-qualified, Al-Saffar will provide cereal and potato agronomy while also bringing financial expertise to clients through his project-accountancy skills.
Anderson said the additional financial focus would help growers navigate the combination of agronomic and cost pressures facing modern farming businesses.
“Juaad’s role is to work alongside the existing team to help growers make sense of agronomic and cost pressures, turning them into clear advice they can use on farm,” he said.
“It is part of our commitment to applied, independent guidance that helps growers improve crops, protect margins and build stronger businesses.”
