IT was a very strong Blackface section that produced the goods at Killin Show when, after debating their respective causes for several minutes, the three sheep judges awarded her the champion of champions rosette.
With the committee making the decision to hold off with the cattle classes to save the condition of Breadalbane Park, the sheep exhibitors certainly didn’t let that hold them back from producing another quality show of Blackface and cross sheep as well as, for the very first time, Swaledales.
But it was a £4000 Midlock-sired gimmer from Messrs McLarty, Glen Tarken, that led the way while a Texel gimmer from the McDiarmid family, Shenlarich, was the best of the other breeds and a six-shear tup from Finlay MacAskill, Tullich, led the Swales.
