WESTPIT Nashville from Andrew and Jim Gammie's 25-cow herd at Drumforber, Laurencekirk, bagged the senior championship title in the Limousins.
This September, 2017-born bull which went on to claim the reserve honours in the continental senior championship later in the day, is an AI son of Dinmore Immense, a bull which won the male championship at the Royal Welsh Show. Bred out of Brockhurst Holly, a dam bought at Newark for 5800gns, he will be up for sale at Carlisle, next February.
Robert and Jean Graham's Graham's herd from Airthrey Kerse, Bridge of Allan, followed on to take the reserve senior title. Brought out by brother and sister duo, Drew and Jennifer Hyslop, was Grahams Nicki, a 12-month-old heifer by Ampertaine Gigolo, out of Grahams Lulu – the only female to be retained in the herd from the Coffee Franco and Grahams Coffee mating. The dam's full brothers have sold to 40,000gns and 20,000gns, while full sisters have peaked at 38,000gns and 32,000gns.
Another Limousin with some top breeding behind her secured the junior title and then the junior continental championship. This was Ritchies Oracle, an ET-bred eight-month old heifer by the Rocky-sired, Rathconville Eugene from Aileen Ritchie's herd at Tamala, Whitecairns, Aberdeenshire. She is bred out of the Wilodge Vantastic daughter, Dinmore Elle and was on her first outing.
Stirling-based breeders, Dougie McBeath and Sarah-Jane Jessop, stood runner up in the juniors with the February, 2018-born heifer, Springsett Orchid. On her first outing, she is by Haltcliffe Ben, out of Wilodge Flawless and is a full sister to the show winning, Poolehall Iris.
