The first year of having Salers at Stars of the Future proved a great success for all exhibitors.

Judge, Iain Livesey, Netheraw Lilliesleaf, Melrose, gave the winning slap in the seniors to Bacardi Nevis, from Roy and Adam Crockett, Deanfoot, Denholm, Hawick. This 11-month-old bull is a son of Seawell Kitemark, which was purchased from Peter Donger and out of the imported cow, Lisette.

Bagging the senior blue and white sash was the 14-month-old heifer, Renock Myrrh, from Rednock Estate, with Malcolm and Gill Pye, Rednock House, Port of Menteith, Stirling, bringing him out.

Celeste McKeague brought out Myrrh, which is sired by Drumaglea Kes, a bull which was purchased at Stirling bull sales in May, 2017, for 12,000gns, and she's bred out of Rigel Myrtle.

The Crocketts also got the junior championship with Bacardi Orelands, which was a young bull on his first outing. This January-born son son of the imported sire, Magnificent, is the first calf out of Bacardi Lexi.

Cumbrian Hyacinth, a polled heifer, took the reserve junior title for Tom and Ian Walling's Farmstock Genetics, Over Whitlaw, Lindean, Selkirk. This February-born heifer is sired by Cumbrian Lieutenant Poll, which was imported from France and the first calf out of Cumbrian Hyacinth (poll).
