Ronnie Black's Clydesdale colt, Collessie Gladiator, went one better than his reserve overall at North of Fife and Lanark Foal Shows, to win the supreme overall championship at the Perth event.

The Clydesdale show, staged at Netherton Equestrian, attracted in excess of 60 entries, where Charlotte Young, from Ayrshire, was both the in-hand and turnout judge.

She found her in-hand winner and overall foal champion in Mr Black's junior colt Gladiator, by Collessie Highlander, out of Littleward Lady Athena. Collessie Gladiator was also a reserve colt at Kilmarnock.

The senior section was won by William Mitchell with his yearling filly Ainville Cindy Doll which went on to take overall reserve. This filly has won many prizes for the family including reserve overall at last year's Ormiston Foal Show. She is sired by the Cawdor Cup stallion, Doura Magic Touch, and out of Ainville Lulu.

The reserve foal was Thorpe Hill Ambassador bred and exhibited by father and son duo, Paul and Matthew Bedford from Yorkshire. This junior colt is sired by Roughlands Refiner and out of West Forth Jane.

The seven-year-old mare, Rossie Mhairi stood as reserve senior champion. A daughter of another Cawdor Cup stallion, Redcastle Brelee Majestic, Mhairi is out Rossie Mirriam. She was bred by Jim Neil and is now owned by Ron Brewster, Helen Carr, and Jonh Anderson.

The driving classes saw some entrants forward with the two-wheeled class topped by Erin Tait and her seven-year-old gelding, Bandirran Freddie Flintoff driven by Chris Warden. In the novice section, Heather Keron and Freezlund Esmie secured the red ticket.

Blyth Brewster from Stirling and Amanda Stewart from Cumbernauld was in charge of the three ridden classes. The open class was again topped by Peggyslea Buddy owned and ridden by Ailsa Noble. The best novice horse was Ashley Douglas' Freezlund Elliott, with daughter August Douglas, who then took the reins to win the novice rider class.

The increasingly popular young handlers classes, also judged by Ms Stewart from Mollinhillhead were described as the “most difficult to judge.”

Winner of the Pee Wee class for ages 3-6 years was five-year-old Charlie Wilson from Blackford competing at his event and following in the footsteps of father Kevin and great-grandfather Jockie.

For the second week in a row, Harry Martin (9) from Dundee, won the juniors for ages 7-11yrs. This is now back to back wins as he has now won both Perth and Fife Foal Show for two years running.

The senior section was won by 15-year-old Blythe Duncan from Fife showing her own gelding, Old Greenlaw Benjamin.
