John Foster led a hat-trick of litter mates at Dryden where his Cap, Eddie Foster’s Glen and Johnnie Robinson’s Nap, between them, scooped the top three places.

The North Country Cheviot cross Texel hoggs behaved reasonably on a good, flat field if handled carefully, but could be unwilling to enter the pen.

John Foster’s Cap (M Arres’ Doug, E Foster’s Bess) ran out well, if a fraction short, but lifted cleanly and had a good fetch with just minor wavers. He had the best drive of the day and although it took a long time and numerous breaks to get the sheep into the pen, a quick and clean shed set the seal on the winning run.

Eddie’s Glen followed was short on his outrun, but again, lifted cleanly. Although he had a good fetch, a missed cross drive gate, and another difficult pen a clean shed saw him into second place.

At Glenlyon, continuity lay with handler Michael Gallagher, who claimed the top two places with Hillrunner Bee and Dalriada Chief, respectively.

Michael’s Bee (SL Davidson’s Dan, E Nilsson’s Fergie) ran out perfectly to her sheep, lifted them calmly, and had a good fetch. She had to work at the pen, but once they were secured, a good shed completed the winning run.

Blackface ewes at Abington ran well on a flat field where Hazel Brown’s Meg (K Donald’s Choc and Sally) ran out nicely and lifted her sheep calmly, keeping them settled and establishing a good relationship. She made good work of the fetch and drive, but at the pen, she had to retrieve two breaks before she secured them and completed the winning run with a decent shed and a comfortable lead over the field.
