RHASS is perhaps best known for the Royal Highland Show in June – a showcase of all the best in food, farming and rural life. Attracting over 190,000 visitors and with around 1000 classes over four days, it is one of Scotland’s largest and most iconic events.

Reporting to the Head of Show, we are looking for a confident and professional Competitions Manager to manage the day-to-day running of the Competitions Team within the Royal Highland Show, from concluding entries to managing overall expectations, through to the smooth delivery of the Show.

Some of the key duties include:
• Servicing and overseeing various Show Competitions committees, for Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Horse and Poultry committees.
• Lead person in dealing with Exhibitors, Judges, Breed Societies, Show Societies, Animal Health Bodies, Government Agencies, Sponsors, Contractors and Suppliers.
• Managing internal and external relationships in order to ensure that the experience, quality and reputation of the show are delivered to a very high standard.
• Managing Competitions content for publications.
• Liaising with all necessary bodies involved with the regulation of animals to ensure that all planning necessary has been made to enable us to hold a livestock Show.
• Writing, producing and distributing briefing documents for Stewards, Judges and others.
• Overseeing the checking and collation of judging results, and provision of results service to the press, and thereafter of prize fund payments, Show Awards List Record and the Champion Medals.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills, self-motivation and a flexible approach to the working day. Practical problem-solving skills and the ability to build rapport with people at all levels are essential. A working knowledge of livestock and equine procedures is highly desirable.
