FARM MANGER/PEDIGREE STOCKMAN

Gretna House Farms

The Houston family at Gretna Green, Dumfriesshire, is offering an opportunity for a person with real enthusiasm and proven ability for farming top quality livestock, managing a farm and keeping the land ‘right.’ This is a new role that follows many years of loyal service of a long standing employee.

You will be responsible for overall farm management, including delivering an agreed plan, records, land care and staff. The role requires experience in top level management of breeding cattle. Pedigree experience is preferable but not essential as training support will be provided as required.

The lowground farm is approx 325ha and is home to the renowned Gretnahouse Herds of pedigree Charolais and Aberdeen Angus cattle. Approx 120 cows (including some ET recipients) produce bulls and females for the premier sales and privately, featuring in the top sale herd averages. We aim for continuous improvement.

If you can think ‘like a good owner who is looking ahead’ and love breeding exceptional cattle for repeat customers, we’d love to hear from you.

Please apply in writing (or email) quoting ref: CCL 30/21, with CV and giving specific details of your current position and responsibilities.

Applications in strictest confidence by 14th May to Alan Stannett.
