Applications are invited for a Senior Trials Officer to join the Crop Trials Team. The Crop Trials Service undertakes research that is intended to underpin the development of resilient and sustainable systems of crop production that are economically viable, but also environmentally and socially acceptable. The postholder will be responsible for the local management of the Crop Trials Team in Aberdeen.


The main responsibilities of this post will include:

• organisation and planning of the entire Trials program set in the North area for the Crop Trials Service
• management of the Trials Team on a daily basis
• performing every task required to set up and realise a large range of trials (marking out, sowing
• spraying, assessing, fertiliser spreading, harvesting, etc)
• working closely with the Service Manager for the realisation of the Trial Program
• communicating with various Project Managers in charge of studies


Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of trials management using a wide range of arable farm machinery/equipment and hold a Certificate of Competence in Use of Pesticides PA1, PA2A & PA6. A BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection would be desirable. A current driving licence is desirable since travel to remote farm sites may be required.


Occasional evening and weekend work will be required at peak crop sowing and harvesting periods.
