Aberdeenshire Hereford breeders, Ian and Laurie-Anne Skea, have sold the bull, Bennachie 1 Masterman, in a private deal to Neil and Stuart Barclay, of Harestone Livestock, Insch, for £9000.
The bull, a three-year-old son of Panmure 1 Herman, is out of Bennachie 1 Flora, a Lower Hurst 1 Lenox daughter that has bred three sons to average £5050.
Any other breed champion at Echt Show, Masterman has been a regular prize winner throughout much of the North-east show circuit.
