Scottish breeders led the way at the English National Show and Sale of Texels at Worcester, producing the lead priced male and female at 8000gns and 16,000gns, respectively.

Sale leader was the female champion, a gimmer from Robbie Wilson's Milnbank flock from Turriff, purchased by Charlie Boden buying for the Cheshire-based Sportsmans flock. This Strathbogie Yes Sir daughter is out of a dam by Glenside Valhalla that made 10,000gns at Carlisle in 2016.

Mr Boden also bought the second top priced gimmer at 5500gns, a Brackenridge Yonder-sired entry from WT Davies of the Canllefaes flock, Cardigan.

Leading the lamb trade at 8000gns was Robert Laird's Cambwell Boss Hogg, from Cambwell, Biggar. A son of Cambwell Aristocrat out of a Cambwell Trademark dam, he fell in a three-way split to Vaughan Farms, Kingsland, Robert Bennett, Plasucha and Nick Legge, Thornbury.

Aberdeenshire breeder, Scott Michie, Mintlaw, sold next at 7000gns with his reserve champion, Scotsman Bullseye, a Duncryne Uber Cool son, selling to George Wilkinson, Arkle, Carlisle, the MacTaggarts from Rascarrel, Castle Doulgas and Angus McColm, Crailloch, Port William. The dam is by Oberstown Usain Bolt.

Northern Ireland breeder, Alastair Gault also had a good day, taking 6500gns for Forkins Body Builder lamb, a Scotsman Aviccii son bred from a Duncryne Uber Cool daughter. He sold locally to John Owens, Leominster and John Sinnett, Stockton on Teme.

Sons of the 130,000gns Sportsmans A Star, again proved popular for Hugh and Alan Blackwood's Auldhouseburn flock from Muirkirk, with sales at 6000gns and 3000gns. The dearest, bred from a Clinterty Yuga Khan daughter was purchased by Gordon and David Gray of the Ettrick and Tima flocks, Selkirk and Steven Renwick, Craig Douglas, Peebles.

Next at 5200gns, Northern Ireland breeder, John Trimble sold Curley Big Mac, a son of Knock Yazoo from WT Davies, Cardigan.

Two lambs made 5000gns, to include Robert Cockburn’s Knap Bugsy Malone, a son of Procters Yankee, purchased by Dalchirla Farms, Muthill, Crieff. The other was Strathbogie Big Shot from Jim Innes, Huntly, a Mullan Armani son, bought by Carol Harriott, Slinfold, Horsham.

Shearlings also peaked at 5000gns for Nicola Hartwright's Whitehart A Lister, a Blackadder Weaver son from Bringsty, Worcester. He sold to Michael and Ella James, Duhonw and Stephen Abberley, Old Helmley, both Powys.
