No fewer than nine lots sold at four-figure prices at a Berrichon show and sale at Carlisle, where the sale leader, a shearling ram made 1800gns.

Selling at this price was the reserve male champion, Janos Sid from Welsh breeder, B Evans, Penrhos, Powys. A son of the show tup, Goitre Pocket Rocket, he sold back down to Wales with Messrs Ellis, Betws-Y-Coed, Gwynedd.

Another from the same home, Janos Sydney, by Woodston Orion, made 1600gns selling to Messrs Morse, St Clears.

Minutes later, Mrs J Bett, Manor Farm, Yarburgh, Lincs, received 1700gns for her champion winner at the Great Yorkshire, a shearling ram by a Headlands sire. Third at the pre-sale show, he sold in a two-way split to Scottish producers, Messrs Powell, Kelso and Messrs Curry, Morpeth, Northumberland.

Matching that was the top priced ram lamb, purchased by Messrs Holtom, Meriden, Coventry, and Messrs Gwynne, Talgarth, Powys. This was Windrush Farming's Windrush Tailor Made, by Headlands One in a Million, from Cheltenham, Glocs.

Leading the female trade at 1100gns was another from B Evans, purchased by Messrs Ellis, Wales. The gimmer, bred by J Wilson, is by Galtres Phoenix.

Just behind, on 1000gns, GB Thomas, Goitre Fach, Hendy, Swansea, sold the lead priced ewe lamb to Messrs Wallace, Newry, Co Down. She is by Spring Prince Charmin and stood third at the Royal Welsh.
