SOCIETY chairman, Michael Cursiter, all the way from Laga Farms, Orkney, bought the top priced Limousin bull at a club show and sale at Welshpool, forking out 6000gns for Garnedd Nectar.
The bull, a June 2017-born son of Ernevalley Jaguar, out of Garnedd Efa, was consigned by KI and E and HI Jones, Betws-Y-Coed, Conwy, and stood second in his class at the pre-sale show judged by Thomas Corbett of the Temeside herd.
The same home also produced Garnedd Nebulon, a similarly aged bull by Treuman Idol, which made 4200gns to IE and M Gittins and Sons, Brooks, Welshpool.
The reserve champion, Garyvaughan Nitrogen, an Emslies Integrity-sired son from CV Lewis and Sons, Buttington New Hall, Welshpool, sold next at 5900gns to DE Evans, Clun, Craven Arms, Shropshire. This rising two-year-old is bred from Garyvaughan Ilesia, a Plumtree Deus daughter.
Also heading up to Scotland at 2800gns was the top priced British Blue sold at a society sale staged the same day. Antrobus Lee Roy, a two-year-old dark roan that stood reserve champion at Cheshire Show, from Paul Gerrard, Morris Farm, Antrobus, is by Cromwell Fendt and sold to G Dinnie, Muir of Fowlis, Alford.
