AN Aberdeen Angus cross heifer scaling 572kg was crowned overall champion at Harrison and Hetherington's Christmas show and sale of 46 prime cattle and 70 pairs of lambs at St Boswells.

The heifer, from J Craggs, Glower O'er Him, which first won the native section later sold for the top price of 420p per kg or £2394 to John Anderson Butchers, North Berwick.

Reserve was a continental cross heifer from WB Hamilton and Sons, Bee Edge. It also scaled 560kg and realised 300p or £1680 to Forsyths Butchers of Peebles.

Paisley butchers WP Tulloch bought the champion and the reserve lambs at £200 and £160 per head respectively. Supreme was a pair of 46kg Beltex lambs form RS Green, Craggs, that scaled 46kg, while the reserve, the first prize pen of YFC lambs from Rory Halliday, Threeburnford, passed the weigh-bridge at 56kg.
