Growing demand for the Texel breed on the continent and further afield has seen another export of 60 breeding sheep bound for Switzerland, of which 13 gimmers and three rams were from Robert Laird and family's Cambwell flock from Biggar.

The sheep were imported by Heinz Pluss, who over the past five years has bought well in excess of 100 Texel females from Scottish flocks.

The popularity of the breed is also growing in Brazil, where in a unique double at the Expointer Show, which attracts 400,000 visitors each year, both the champion and reserve overall winners were got by semen from Cambwell Trademark.

Furthermore, a gimmer daughter of Teiglum Vision sold recently, set a new record in Brazil selling for $53,200, which equates to roughly £10,000.
