Averages: 105 ram lambs, £411.18 (-£100.43 for 28 fewer sold); 25 shearling rams, £513.13 (-£74.21 for nine more); 25 gimmers, £389.34 (-£76.60 for 17 more).

A disappointing demand for pedigree Texels saw less than half the catalogued entry change hands with averages down in every section at the Scottish club show and sale at Lanark.

This year's event saw just four lots sell at or above the 1000gns mark with a top price half that of the 2018 event.

Sale leader at 1400gns was Clyde Cassanova, the sole entry from renewables expert, Gavin Jackson, who owns just one ewe in his Clyde flock from Thankerton, Biggar. He is the result of an in-lamb Haddo gimmer by Tophill Wall Street, bought at the Select Seven sale from William Knox and Sons. Cassanova is by the 8400gns Hexel Born to be Wild, and sold to James Orr, Wester Walston, Biggar.

Just behind on 1300gns was one of the last lots in the catalogue from David and Iain Gilmour, Broomknowes, Maybole. Broomknowes Comrade, a mid March-born lamb is by Forkins Bootyhunter, out of a ewe by Glenside Warhorse, sold to Jim Innes, buying for the Strathbogie flock from Dunscroft, Huntly.

Two sold at 1000gns to include Easterseat Cabin Boy, a lamb from John Tough, Carluke, purchased by Alasdair Beaton, Wester Crosshill, Slamannan, Falkirk. He is by Springwell Bond.

Matching that was the first prize ram lamb from Angus McColm, Crailloch, Port William. He is by Scotsman Bullseye and sold to Hugh McPhee, Dundonald, Kilmarnock.
