A new centre record price for Blackface draft ewes was achieved at United Auctions' sale of 6171 ewes and gimmers at Stirling when a pen of 10 from Ewen Mcmillan, Lurg, realised £800 selling to Rhoda Munro, Croft One.
Blackface gimmers peaked at £1900 twice for a pen of five from Andrew Kay and sons Robert and Andrew, Gass, Straiton, purchased by John Henry Weir, Invernahyle, Appin and for a pen of three from Hugh and Alan Blackwood, Auldhouseburn, Muirkirk, purchased by Messrs Lennox, Northern Ireland.
All sections enjoyed a flying trade with accredited ewes and gimmers up £4.78 and £31.16 on the year to level at £70.60 and £115.07 per head, respectively.
Non accredited ewes and gimmers levelled at £67.05 and £140.84, up £0.67 and £27.28, respectively.
