IN the recent episode of the Quality Meat Scotland podcast, presenter Mark Stephens is joined George Allan, Scotland and North of England Divisional Manager for Meat and Livestock Commercial Services Ltd, along with Jonny Williams, Joint Operations Director, Farmstock Scotland.

Episode five and six of the QMS podcast focus on maximising returns through meeting carcase specifications. The recent podcast discusses differentiating the market to bring the greatest return to cattle producers.

With over 40 years’ experience working in the industry and with a sheep flock of his own, Mr Allan provides knowledge for UK livestock producers in the selection of live animals to meet buyer requirements, and also to those working in abattoirs who need to develop carcase assessment and classification skills.

Mr Allan said: “Episode five and six of the QMS podcasts should prove valuable for sheep and cattle farmers and help them improve how they both select their finished livestock for market, and make future breeding decisions in order to give them the best financial return.”

The QMS podcast series focusses on initiatives which can help Scottish farmers improve the productivity, profitability and sustainability of their businesses and is available through Apple Podcast, Buzzsprout, and Spotify, as well as via the Quality Meat Scotland website and social channels.
