Northern Ireland breeder, Andrew Kennedy, had a field day at a small but selective sale of Poll Dorset and Dorset Horn sheep sale at Stirling, selling the top priced male and female at 1100gns and 700gns, respectively.

Mr Kennedy, who owns the Maineview flock from Ballymena, topped the males with Maineview Chieftain, a ram lamb son of Ballytaggart After Shock, which sold back across the Irish Sea to Messrs Baxter, Castleroddy Road, Omagh.

Topping the females at 700gns was a ewe lamb from the Maineview flock purchased by Messrs Moorhead, Lisnaught, Ballymoney, Co Antrim. She is by Maineview Armani.

Outwith the sale of 53 Dorsets, some 200 breeding sheep for early lamb production were also sold

Wester Middleton, Gorebridge sold two of the three top priced gimmers with Texel crosses making £260 per head and Beltex crosses selling for £200.

Whitlaw received £210 per head for Zwartbles gimmers.
